Measurements and Compatibility

Q: How do I choose the right size for my watch?

A: The fundamental measurement is the lug width of your watch case, measured in millimeters (mm). The most common sizes are 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, and 22mm. To be sure, measure the internal space between the two lugs with a ruler or caliper.

Q: How do I choose the right strap length?

A: The strap length depends on your wrist circumference. Our standard straps (generally 120mm / 75mm) are suitable for wrists ranging from 16.5 cm to 20 cm. To measure your wrist, use a tailor's tape measure or a simple string to wrap around and then measure with a ruler.

Q: What is the "taper" of the strap?

A: Tapering is the reduction in strap width from where it attaches to the watch (lugs) down to the buckle. For example, a "20/18mm" strap is 20mm wide at the lugs and 18mm at the buckle. This feature gives the strap a more elegant and comfortable look.

Materials and Maintenance

Q: Are your leather straps water-resistant?

A: No. Real leather is a natural, porous material. To preserve its beauty and durability, our straps should not be immersed in water or exposed to prolonged moisture (shower, pool, intense sports). Contact with liquids can cause stains, deformation, and weakening of the leather.

Q: The leather of my new strap is a bit stiff. Is this normal?

A: Absolutely yes. It's a sign of quality and new, robust leather. Like a good pair of shoes, the strap will soften and adapt perfectly to the shape of your wrist after a few days of use. This "breaking-in" process will make it unique and incredibly comfortable.

Q: How long does a leather strap typically last?

A: The lifespan of a leather strap greatly depends on usage, climate, and the care it receives. With normal use and following our maintenance tips, an Essential Straps strap can last from 1 to 3 years, developing a beautiful patina over time that makes it unique.

Use and Replacement

Q: Is it difficult to change a strap?

A: No, it's a very simple operation you can do at home. If your strap has quick-release spring bars, you can change it in seconds without tools. For standard straps, you'll need a small spring bar tool to remove and install the spring bars.

Q: Do your straps include spring bars?

A: Yes. Every Essential Straps strap comes with a new set of high-quality spring bars, ready to be installed on your watch.

Q: Is the buckle included? Can I use my original buckle?

A: Yes, each of our straps comes with a high-quality stainless steel buckle. If you wish to use your watch's original buckle (for example, a buckle with the brand's logo), make sure the buckle width matches that of our strap (check the taper measurement, e.g., 20/18mm).
